Glass Recycling

Glass recycling in North Central Washington has experienced two big blows recently, so it is not available at this time.

911 Glass Rescue in Chelan is CLOSED due to damage sustained during a recent fire.

Glass recycling at the Leavenworth Recycling Center has been DISCONTINUED for the time being due to reduced end market customers and thus an overabundance of inbound glass supplies waiting for expanded end markets.

Older info that we hope to revive when we have better news:

The two local facilities that will accept drop offs are the Leavenworth Recycling Center in Leavenworth and 911 Glass Rescue in Chelan. We recommend the Leavenworth Recycling Center because they have the ability to accept glass from residents throughout the two counties.

Because of the scale of their operation, 911 Glass Rescue must primarily accept glass from residents and businesses in the Chelan Valley area. They can accept more than just glass bottles. They can accept glass jars, pottery, glassware and even broken glass. Their glass is crushed into sand and an aggregate with rounded edges. These materials can be used for a variety of public works and residential projects.

At both locations, donations are highly appreciated to offset costs of running the facilities and, for Leavenworth, hauling. Both locations have specific, limited hours. Please check their websites for more details (see links above).

Glass Hauling

Until the Wenatchee Valley has a local glass recycling drop off, volunteers are taking turns to haul glass on some Saturday mornings or Wednesday afternoons to Leavenworth Recycling Center.

If you have some glass you would like hauled, check here for upcoming dates. The meet up location is Olds Station Park & Ride, 340 E Penny Road, Wenatchee.

Currently scheduled glass hauling days:

Suspended until further notice.

Please bring your glass bottles in sturdy (and not overloaded) cardboard boxes (and $5 cash to cover the small donation fee). Please use reasonably sized boxes about the size of a wine crate or smaller.

Can you volunteer to haul glass on a Saturday or Wednesday sometime soon? Contact Natalie Williams via text (include "glass hauling" in the text) at 206-669-4820.
